Today, much like many other days, started as an ordinary day, only to find another family member has passed away. Today is September 3rd. My sister passed last week, actually, but today my mind and thoughts are with my friend, dear sister.

It seems like this has really been hitting her family. She's been taking the information left and right. Young and old, sick and healthy members of her family have passed away. I have began to wonder why are we leaving Earth so rapidly. It's already the 9th month in the year and, well, Coronavirus seems to be here to stay, at least a few more of the months going into the new year of 2021.

In the year 2018 I received mother of the year award. In the year 2019 Amir and ziair received Oakland's finest award. Now that it's 2020. Well, let's just say we will wait to see the end result of the year.

We do have wonderful projects. We have planted the seeds, watered and thrown some shade. Everybody is beginning to act like everything is normal again. As soon as the numbers went down with the Covid-19 virus, they went back up like a yo-yo.

Some people don't believe the virus is a real situation, and others are petrified, allowing it to dictate their every movement. it's a Bittersweet situation. Nobody really knows what to do. Wash your hands. Cover your mouth. Shield your face. Watch your step. Don't look at anybody too hard or you might catch it. That's the feeling.

This new reality is causing everyone to re-evaluate how they move, think, feel and respond. It brings me to the very thought of Kobe Bryant and Chadwick Boseman, two black powerful men suddenly unexpectedly in this year of 20/20 Clear Vision and New Beginnings Paving their mark on the world forever. I remember my personal documentary being relevant around the same time as these black men leveled up. I too leveled the signs of the times. I have arrived. The notion of ridding of money I've been talked about, but it's becoming a reality.

The chips have been put into the animals and the people, and there's something going on in the atmosphere. Some people say count the stars, look to the Sun and Moon. Astrology is our next best friend to help us shift through these uncertain times. Religion, Salvation, Spirituality, Stones, Rocks, Crystals, Herbs, Sage, Centering and Meditation. These are the remedies, antidotes and cure for all that we face. However, the teacher will show up when the student is ready for the lesson.

This isn't the first pandemic and it won't be the last. This isn't the first situation in government where the state has put citizens In Harm's Way. It's in the books. It's said in history. It's Center woven into our tapestry. All we have to do is be willing to receive and present for the answers. They will come. They are already here. All that you need is already inside of you. You just have to believe and then receive.

I am AudreyCandyCorn a Greiving Yet breathing mother, and these are my Chronicles.

Things are shifting…and not just for me but for everyone…

Life has been very unpredictable, more so than usual…

I myself have been maintaining, I haven’t gotten myself caught up in the madness of it all.

I’ve somehow managed to stay focused on health, wealth and inner peace.

A few months ago, I had a scare out of nowhere. One lump, then two, and a third appeared almost all at once in my right breast. Back on September 17th, 2020, to be exact, and by December 24th, 2020, it was clear. I had to get a check up.

Life’s twist. I remember making a statement. I said out with my mouth to someone that I was grateful to be the healthiest out of my circle of sister girls. I wasn’t bragging, I was trying to count my blessings and not focus on my son being dead. Life and its unpredictability. On to the next.

And so as of now, the focus is decluttering the house so that the boys and I are able to move into our Homefulness home. This is a great shift. The boys and I are more than ready for an extreme life makeover. I really am feeling the urge to detach from what’s familiar. Everyone has went insane over the coronavirus. We don’t know if we are coming or going…

As everybody knows, the Gulf of Mexico is being polluted by an abandoned mine in Manatee County near Tampa Bay, Florida. This is a part of the story that nobody will tell you. The media will say, “Oh they’re being poisoned by a small company.” But it is not a small company. It is a huge company.

But what you may not know is that the company that owns the mine is in Pennsylvania. The name of the company is DMV Holdings. DMV Holdings is part of a bigger corporation that is headquartered in the Caribbean. But what right does a Pennsylvania corporation have to do with owning a wastewater containment pond that could poison thousands of people? Because it is a greedy company. It is a holding company due to an abandoned mine.

DMV Holdings is a holding company. What is a holding company? If you’re bankrupt, a holding company will buy you. They are like a holding ground, like an insurance policy. They buy you out, so you don’t go under. They hold you up until you can take care of yourself. When failing companies are held by holding companies, you can buy shares of the company for as little as 10 cents a share. And if the company goes bankrupt, then you’ll get a tax break. They want that too.

This wastewater pond is leaking and could affect the groundwater of over 100,000 people. Thousands of people could be poisoned. In my mind, not only the company but the executives should be put on trial for murder if any person is killed from this. If I personally kill someone, I will be charged with murder. If it’s a corporation, then the executives should be charged. But they never are due to the law that goes back to 1890 that makes a corporation similar to a private individual. The executives will never be charged.

The idea of the corporation being owned by other corporations is scary to me. They can pay off the executives by giving them one bit coin worth $62,000. No one will see the money because it will be transferred electronically through electronic wallet. Also, it may look like the guys are in jail, but they won’t go to a regular jail. They would go to a white-collar jail. And some of these prisons are more like country clubs than prisons where prisoners are given the cell key.

Today I learned about Supermoon, it's in September.

September 17th is the actual day in 2020

This is the third Supermoon to be experienced, this information is new to me.
I never knew of such a thing.
I learned that manifestation takes place during these times in the atmosphere.
I never really pay attention to things like that (that's probably why I have been unbalanced!) Some people are really in tune with these types of knowledge.

Science has a lot to do with how we have been feeling. They say the super moon is just as important as the moon itself ...
I'm learning that constellation science is tricky...
How the laws of the universe supersede science... or do they?
    They go hand-in-hand.
The laws of the land and science are almost the same thing (but don't quote me on that)
I am a believer in manifestation, I am a believer in science, I am a believer of the universal laws of attraction.

    I know One thang...
I believe in God, The Great I Am that I am ...
As for now I will allow my intuition to guide me.
I believe all of the numbers and stars add up to a full Human Experience.
We humans are at the top of the food chain, we are our own saviors as well as the enemy. Mother Earth is Raging!
This is fire season and covid-19 has been the same for 9 months.
Corona has a hold over the whole world right now.

And so all one can do is navigate from the inner being, our inner Compass, to be the road map, allowing our vessels to be the tools that the energy shifts through, messaging directions and last but not least...
    Salvation
This is how it's all connected

California Prison Focus and KAGE Universal presents

The Hunger Striking for True Freedom Tour

    August 1 - August 21, 2021

Shining light on California’s Prison Industrial Complex

    while inspiring meaningful discourse nation-wide.

    ☠ 163 jails ☠ 86 juvenile facilities ☠ 46 federal and state prisons ☠ 5 ICE detention centers ☠

♡ Multiple rallies & events ♡ daily pop ups ♡ featured  artivists ♡ and a quest for true freedom ♡

“The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons” Fyodor Dostoevsky

“State repression is centralized within the prison system.” Angela Davis

The Hunger Striking for True Freedom Tour, a project of California Prison Focus/KAGE Universal (CPF/KAGE) will consist of a caravan of mostly formerly incarcerated activists, including two featured artists and a prison cell on wheels with a piano in it. The caravan of formerly incarcerated artivists will cover over two thousand miles and last for 21 days, passing by many of California’s more than 300 federal, state, county and ICE detention facilities, with multiple organized rallies and interactive art exhibit/tabling/pop-ups along the way. We will use our art, voices, and literature, amplified by our social media presence, to bring awareness to the omnipresence of the California carceral system, the brutality of this system, and its wide-ranging social and economic impacts. Through both organized and impromptu community dialogues, we will present and explore solutions and concrete steps towards ending mass incarceration..

The tour is being organized in solidarity with and in honor of the California Prison Hunger Strikes of 2011, 2012 and 2013 - who starved themselves for 60 days to liberate themselves from decades of torture in Pelican Bay State Prison’s long term solitary confinement units (PBSP SHU). This tour will shine light on their plight, as well the plight of thousands of other incarcerated elders, men, women, children and families who are surviving life in a concrete box, under the guise of “public safety” and under the color of law.

We will illuminate the malignant consequences of structural racism and spark meaningful discourse about viable pathways to uncaging California, and the nation as a whole. We will present solutions developed by still imprisoned scholars and activists, including the Prisoner Human Rights Movement Blueprint, Strategic Release and the “Autonomous Infrastructure” of the Abolish Legal Slavery in Amerika Movement (A13-AIM).

Featured artivists include CPF/KAGE Co-Director and spoken-flowz artivist, Min King X aka Pyeface, author/artivist Jose’ Villarreal who survived 9 years in Pelican Bay SHU, and world-renowned jazz pianist, Eric Vaughn. In addition there will be skits and two theatrical productions of Solitary Man: A Visit to Pelican Bay State Prison, a two person play with Fred Johnson based on interactions with prisoners in Pelican Bay SHU/solitary confinement. Other artivists and speakers will be joining our caravan and/or rallies and pop ups along the way. We will also be sharing the artwork, poetry and writings and pre-recorded messages of our still imprisoned artivist allies.

** Other people are welcome to join our caravan, however, California Prison Focus is not responsible for travel or lodging arrangements. If you join us, please come prepared!

Dates and locations will be posted, at a later date, at www.prisons.org.

    * This tour was organized in memory and honor of Christian Gomez and Billy Sells who lost their lives during the California Prison Hunger Strikes, and of political prisoner, Romaine “Chip” Fitzgerald, and for his children and family who spent decades waiting and looking forward to the day their family would be whole again. Chip, a member of the Black Panther Party, passed away on April 12, 2021, after serving three times the average sentence for the offense he was imprisoned for. *

Political Prisoners and a Legacy of Resistance in California

The California Prison Hunger Strikes of 2011, 2012 and 2013

The California Prison Hunger Strikes were organized by the same politically active individuals at Pelican Bay State Prison who were instrumental in the development of California Prison Focus back in 1989, subsequent to the opening of Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP). These men who became our close allies, were tortured for decades with “sensory deprivation, sleep deprivation, thought deprivation, social deprivation and cultural deprivation” - as stated by incarcerated writer and activist, Louis Powell, who spent over three decades tortured in PBSP SHU, and is still seeking his freedom today. Five hundred of the California Prison Hunger Strikers at PBSP had been tortured in the SHU for more than ten years and 78 for more than twenty years. Hugo Pinell endured 43 years of solitary confinement torture. While the strikes were successful in that over 30,000 people participated in the 2013 strike, including prisoners and activists from all over the world, who joined in solidarity with the California prison hunger strikers, and the CDCR was forced to release the men from solitary confinement, many of the tortured individuals continue to suffer from the long term effects of SHU PTSD. (See “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Solitary Confinement” by Sitawa Nantambu Jamaa and Baridi J. Williamson, Prison Focus, Spring 2018, Issue 55 or “Pathology of the SHU” by Ifoma Modibo Kambon, Prison Focus, Summer 2017, Issue 52) Most of the organizers of the strike are unable to begin the healing process because so many of them remain imprisoned today, as the result of retaliation by prison guards for their organizing activities and act of resistance. These freedom fighters did not starve themselves only to be moved from one unit to another within the prisons. They did so to gain TRUE FREEDOM for themselves, for their peers, their children, their families and communities, and for all of us!

California Prison Focus and the California Prisoner Hunger Strikes

In 2015 California Prison Focus sponsored and became a founding member of the Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Coalition. Through our work with the coalition, our investigative legal visits and subsequent quarterly California Prison Reports, as well as our advocacy, direct actions and our publication, Prison Focus, we played an instrumental role in the success of the California Prisoner Hunger Strikes and the Ashker v. Governor of California class action lawsuit, which ended indeterminate solitary confinement in California and led to the release of more than 1,500 people from California SHU,.... via California Prison Focus’ Liberate the Caged Voices and Agreement 2 Come Home campaigns, CPF/KAGE Universal will continue to advocate for the TRUE FREEDOM of our allied and aging artivists who are still locked up today, and all aging prisoners, nationwide.

    California Political Prisoners

Political movements have historically developed and evolved inside U.S. prisons paralleling those which exist outside the prison walls. While some people in prison today are there as a direct result of their political activities before their imprisonment, many others became politicized after arriving in prison. Angela Davis, in a 2007 interview with Prison Focus, explains that imprisoned scholars in California, “were analyzing the conditions of their lives in prison, and came up with new ideas of how to engage in struggle around prison issues and relate these issues to the larger construct of racism and economic exploitation.” Some of the imprisoned individuals who remained active in agitating for social change - educating themselves and those around them - as those described above - have, as Davis went on to explain, “been subjected to another layer of repression precisely because of their politics”

Caravan, Rally and event details will be posted at www.prisons.org

  • De-GentriFUKing Mama Earth one Homefulness at a time..... How houseless/poor/disabled people are UnSelling Mama Earth for all of us

By tiny Gray-Garcia - daughter of Dee, mama of Tiburcio

Homefulness #2 @7600 BlackArthur - Deep East Huchuin

“Here are the keys”,  On a beautiful day in May - right as the pandemic and the poltricksters who wouldn’t listen to the CDC and continued to conduct “sweeps” on houseless bodies all across the Bay Area, was making it impossible for so many houseless peoples to survive, muchless shelter in place (like I always say, how you gonna shelter in place , when you have no place) a wite-man in a brand-new BMW pulled up in front of the Sliding Scale cafe at Homefulness #1 where we share healthy food, groceries, masks, diapers, produce and organic pastry to over 800 folks a week, and handed us the “keys” to Homefulness #2 at 7600 BlackArthur.

That was a moment in herstory for so many reasons. Us poor people who have struggled with rent, eviction, homelessness, displacement, removal, false borders, hunger, mold, cold, scamlords, illegal evictions, gentriFUKation as i call it, had taught people who had Never had to struggle with any of those things, about the concepts of Poverty Scholarship and ComeUnity Reparations. We were able to It meant SO much and yet it oddly quiet moment , it meant so much but was barely a blip in the terror of poor peoples pandemic survival. In addition we poor, disabled, indigenous peoples have been “given” the keys to apartments, rental houses, garages, storage bins and cars before, and as soon as we can’t pay the rent, we are given more things, like 3 day notices to pay rent

“This lot is zoned for 14 luxury condos…” said the real ESNake agent....

Before that day with the “keys” which were to an empty lot in the intentionally blighted poor people of color neighborhood known as Deep East Oakland, which was currently ground zero of a huge push to gentriFUK that had been the home of a gas station and a body shop for decades and then just left and decimated as so many other locations in poor peoples of color, we had had a series of frightening conversations with the devil-opers of Oakland and realEsnakes who were “selling” a lot on BlackArthur intentionally planned to remove the people who already lived on BlackArthur.

Lots of people talk, protest and even organize against gentrification and removal, but how do you actually stop it in its tracks?

After our youth poverty skolaz from the liberation school called Deecolonize Academy and us Mama and Uncle poverty Skola teachers - all of us coming from homelessness and eviction trauma, living and schooling on Homefulness, released the Hoarded Mama Earth WeSearch Report last year…

"Vacant lots and empty buildings are being “hoarded”   i.e. not housing people who are in desperate need of housing , sometimes for years, and us homeless and formerly homeless youth and families  at Homefulness by doing extensive research can help take them back for the good of the people"… excerpt from the Hoarded Mama Earth Report by POOR Magazine Youth and Mama Poverty SKolaz-

What we “learned” from this WeSearch ( what i call Poor people-led research) is what we already knew, what all of us poor peoples and long-time residents of these gentriFUKed neighborhoods all know, the gentriFUKers are coming, they have always been there. They are waiting like cultures at the intersections of every working class and poor people neighborhood across Turtle Island (United Snakes). And they always move violently and swiftly, whether its against 100 year old Black elders, like Iris Canada, or families with nowhere else to go, Sabrina Carter and Moms4Housing and so many more. But people need numbers and proof of things we already know so POOR Magazine researched and “proved” eviction is elder abuse and its why we launched the Bank of ComeUnity Reparations to get folks with race and class privilege to radically redistribute to poor and houseless/indigenous peoples like us so we could “UnSellMamaEarth” one small piece at a time. Its why we wrote Poverty Scholarship Textbook, its why we do Theatre of the POOR, its why we do PeopleSkool - a poor people-led school to help privileged, housed, hoarding and unhoused folks degentriFUK and decolonize their lives and minds.

Thanks to all of this work and sweat and prayer and education and cultural work, 7600 BlackArthur was successfully the 2nd small piece of Mama Earth that us poor folks have UnSold, and removed out of the hands of the gentriFUKers so they couldn’t “build” devil-op, destroy, more of Mama Earth about us without the residents in the very place they think they have rights to.

“You need to re-name yourself Rich Magazine now, how you poor people got two places?,” Have heard this more than once, since the launching of Homefulness #2 - and the hard part is explaining POOR Magazine is still in fact Po - we don’t “own” nothing, this wasn’t about us controlling or owning , or running or colonizing, or perpetrating more of the same ole same ole krapitalist lies of Ownership. This wasn’t a “Capital Campaign, or other non-profiteer, philanthro-pimp lie.

This was about lifting stolen land off the commodities market in real time and giving it back to the comeUnity, forEVER. This was about 21st century actual manifestation of dreams of poor people -led self-determination. This was the manifestation of DeGentriFUKation. In real time what does that looks like? It looks like just what we have slowly but surely crawled though. The CONfusion, terror, poverty, mud, and struggle of Homefulness #1 into building 6 units of rent-free housing, for houseless and formerly houseless very poor, disabled families and individuals, and by BlackAugust, assuming the City of Oakland doesn’t throw us more over-priced permits or obstacles, 11 units. That families and elders and their descendants can live in forever, with no fear of gentriFUKing. No-one, no entity or agency profits off of this land, or "owns" it, but we grow food, heal and take care, of each other, educate and support the community with massive redistribution of everything we have, all the time.

We are stewards of the land- we, the landless, indigenous, poor peoples who launched Homefulness & the children & childrens children of original founders  of homefulness and generations beyond- DO NOT OWN MAMA EARTH. None of us who live here own the land,  but because this land and all of us exist within a capitalist system who will easily take a certain amount of blood-stained dollars to evict us, displace us or remove us- we understand that their needs to be  some entity on paper that "owns" the land or it will get stolen by more government gangsters or devil-opers.  For that reason we are creating a series of documents and entities to protect the land and its stewards from current or future removal, devil-opment or removal -excerpt from the living document known as the MamaFesto created by all the poverty, disability youth and elder skolaz of POOR Magazine since 2009 revolutionary Change Session at POOR Magazine

In the case of Homefulness #2 - its looks like 6 all nations prayer ceremonies, comeUnity visioning days, where the whole community has weighed in on what their Homefulness is going to look like (there have been 6- we will be having another one June 20th (For Juneteenth and Revolutionary Fathers Day weekend) , its looks like ComeUnity led clean-ups and asphalt lifting and land cleaning and loving and designing together with conscious architects and comeUnity Architects, who take back this paper-dominated space of land planning. It looks like leaders from the comeUnity stepping up to lead this liberation and create their own MamaFesto #2 . These arent just dreams and strategy and talk, these are happening.

Its a funny thing, but people have been lied to so long about “ownership” and mamaEarth, that the idea of UnSelling seems really hard for us colonized people to truly believe.

BlackArthur Homefulness #2 was taken back from the Devil-opers and given to the people and hardly anyone noticed…

We at POOR Magazine are going through a process with some conscious lawyers from Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC) who thankfully took us on as “clients” and conscious legislators like Carol Fife and Rebecca Kaplan to create a new legislation, a new designation not informed by the settler- colonial terror of land theft and the CONstitution, but prayed for and informed byPoverty Scholarship and 1st Nations warriors like one of POOR Magazine’s spiritual leaders, Corrina Gould, from Sogorea Te Land Trust and West Berkeley Shellmound and our ancestors of gentriFUKation like my Mama Dee and Uncle Al Robles and us poor and gentriFUKEd and removed/houseless/bordered/disabled poverty skolaz, who are here and fight and protest and build and struggle everyday , with very little notice, no media except what we create ourselves and no accolades or bling.Just doing the work, cause it has to be done.

Our Poor Mama/Family/Youth and elder-led movement stands in solidarity and align ourselves with warriors from the EZLN, Landless Peoples Movement, AbaseMonjodole (Shackdwellers Union in South Africa) and MOVE Africa- Long Live John Africa, who a lot of people glamorize now , but weren’t standing with, when people were Shit-Talking about their refusal to get down with Krapitalism when the poltrickster mayor decided to bomb their powerFULL movement.

The Violent Herstory that led us houseless mamas to this day….

“Get the F&*k out you bums,” Mr. H, the motel owner, screamed at us. It was one of the few times we had moved our houseless bodies into a motel room to escape the cold of the park bench we were sleeping on. Me and mama were houseless and really at the end of our spiritual, physical rope. Our last hooptie (broke-down car) was towed for too many tickets for sleeping in it) and we had nowhere to go. When we stayed in the motel, I silk screened t-shirts all night in the tiny closet and then sold them on the street to pay for the next days motel rent, but this time sales weren’t so good and I only sold one shirt for $15.00. the days rent was $50.00.

Mr H called us bums because he had decided that because we had no money, no credit card and no cash we were “Bums”. He failed to notice how hard we worked to try to pay him but really that doesn’t matter anyway, as the old adage goes, “Money talks, bullshit walks”

This is just one slice of herstory that makes up the deep change work of my life-work to upturn what I call the Lie of Rent, Heal and UnSell Mama Earth and help fellow houseless, disabled /indigenous peoples launch as many Homefulness projects as possible across stolen and colonized Turtle Island and beyond.  We will be doing one of our StolenLand/Hoarded Resources Tours though Akkkademia to manifest land liberation for the Stolen ancestors and land of Ohlone /Lisjan relatives and poor and houseless peoples of Peoples Park and 1921 Walnut st - a building about to be gentriFUKEd for the Dorm Industrial Complex. We welcome all folks to walk, march, stand and speak with us in this- pls connect if you interested. In addition, this Summer and Fall this povertyskola and others from POOR Magazine will be doing a road trip in the months of June and July and October-February to share this medicine as we always have from Day 1, with as many povertyskolaz and wealth-hoarders trying to un-hoard as want to learn, change and transform - please hit us up to visit your town and launch a stolen land tour, a workshop and/or a reading of the powerFULL medicine that informs this work Poverty Scholarship- Poor People-led Theory, Art , Words and Tears Across Mama Earth. Please hit this povertyskola up if you are interested to know more.

On July 4, 2016, 18-year-old Latino Loved One Anthony Nuñez was in a mental health crisis in his home in San José, CA. Anthony had shot himself, grazing his head with a bullet, was bleeding, and was in desperate need of medical attention. Two pleas for life-saving medical support to 911 were made by Anthony’s family. Even in the life-threatening heat of the moment and with language barriers of Spanish and english, at the 911 dispatcher’s request, the gun was separated from Anthony well before emergency response units arrived. Anthony was no threat to anyone but himself that day, and after shooting himself, was wounded and needed immediate medical assistance. Unfortunately, medical help never made it to Anthony. Instead it was the militarized poLice, who committed to Use of Force before even arriving to the scene, who were first to Anthony. They arrived in massive numbers and in tactical gear and placed snipers, keeping medics and Anthony’s family from him.  Instead of providing care and assistance, SJPD officers Michael Santos and Anthony Vissuz violently shot and murdered Anthony Nuñez in his family’s home.

Anthony Nuñez is very loved. He was a handsome Mexican teenager who often got haircuts (he loved getting good haircuts). His Momma, Sandy Sanchez, jokes about how he would constantly look in any mirror he saw. If he could see his own reflection, Anthony would look.  Anthony loved to dance, to joke around, he liked to rap, he had a lot of friends. Anthony’s family members, including his cousins Natalie and Jason, say that Anthony was human, he made mistakes, like all teenage boys. They say he was an amazing young person, he was working at a new job the day he died, that he was held close by a strong family. Anthony’s death has taken a very serious toll on his family members, especially his Mom, Sandy, who has raised him since his birth Mom died when Anthony was very young. This made Anthony like a brother and sister with his cousins, they were raised together and are his siblings. Sandy is disabled and the impact of grief, trauma, the complete lack of accountability and lies of the poLice and the way it is pushing her family apart is literally killing her.

Sandy says that her Son, Anthony, was never treated for any mental illness or psychiatric disability, and no one but Anthony knows what was going on for him that day he died.  It is not uncommon for boys and men, especially men of color, to not address or receive care for their mental health. Anthony’s death has forever changed those who love him. Anthony’s death has caused a ripple effect within his immediate and extended family, causing disconnect and serious health problems. Depression got ahold of Anthony Nuñez on July 4, 2016, and ultimately, it is the San José poLice who violently stole his young life.  Rest in Power Anthony Nuñez.

Please support Justice for Anthony Nuñez by showing up with his family and friends for kourt support at the civil trial at the San Jose, CA Federal Kourt House on June 17th, 2019 at 9am, that trial is expected to run a couple weeks, Mon-Thurs. The family is also fundraising to have a headstone for Anthony at his gravesite. #JusticeforAnthonyNuñez

I have been blessed since 1998 when Tiny and her mother Dee saw me at the Berkeley Rep Theater during the hey day of spoken word and the the Bay Area’s spoken word scene to not only start one of the first online columns on race and disability called Illin-N-Chillin after the police shooting of a Black woman with mental health disability, Marget L Mitchell of LA.  Since that time it seems I continue to walk beside Poor Magazine learning from them and putting their education to work when it comes to people with disabilities.  Tiny and I realized at an early stage that Disability and Poverty went hand in hand but the shame kept it hush hush.

The second thing I learned from Poor Magazine was to have control over your own destiny. That’s when Gary N Gray and I started Disability Advocates of Minorities Organization, DAMO  and like Poor Magazine had Po’ Poets DAMO had New Voices: Disabled Poets & Artists of Color.  We also found out that the non-profit avenue was not our ticket to self determination!  We also created our own ways of making decisions with the creation of family elders council which is one of the many elements of the medicine to Never call the poLice which a lot of people talk about but we manifest and have manifested together since 1996 after DAMO and Poor Magazine organized the first ever Senseless Crimes Open Forum after the police shootings of Black Disabled young men in San Francisco.

Even Krip-Hop Nation started at Poor Magazine and that's when I once again learn from Tiny and started to create words, terminology and theory following in the footsteps of words like Poverty Scholarship came Krip-Hop, Black Ableism and Afro-Krip, etc.

Poor Magazine published my first book entitled, Black Disabled Man with a Big Mouth & High I.Q. in 1998 and then went on to publish two Moore books and once again Krip-Hop’s founders learned from Poor Magazine and Keith Joes created his own press, Soulful  Media Works.

Almost like Homefulness of Poor Magazine, Krip-Hop Nation wants to build on a lot smaller scale in what we call the Krip-Hop Institute. It will be a place of learning in the community and will house two of its founders and be a venue for cultural expression.  In a strange way Leroy is going to the roots of the founders of Poor Magazine in the Fall of 2021 as I enter in  academia at UCLA where Dee tried to get in and where Tiny was raised, on the streets of LA.

Poor Magazine will always be one of my Foundations to keep me grounded even in the academy in LA.

    Thank you Poor Magazine!

*All the language in this article challenging linguistic domination is brought to you by Lisa “Tiny” Gray-Garcia & POOR Magazine...check out Poverty Scholarship at poorpress.net for more on linguistic domination

“We are at this place right now where we’re doing land acknowledgements, but do we get to go to these institutions? Not ONE Lisjan person has been educated at UC Berkeley,” said Corrina Gould at ‘Degentrifying Academia from Huichin (Berkeley) to Lenape (Philly): Taking Back Land, Culture, and Ancestors’ on April 28th. Corrina, spokesperson for the Confederated Villages of Lisjan/Ohlone and co-founder of Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, talked about how buildings at UC Berkeley hoard remains of 9,000 stolen indigenous ancestors. Akkkademic institutions have the power to tell false, colonized histories -- from UC Berkeley in the Bay Area to Temple University in Philly -- as they sit on indigenous burial sites and village sites.

POOR Magazine -- alongside comrades from Poor People’s Army, #FreeKashmir, Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, Krip Hop Nation, and many more Poverty Skolaz -- shared powerful knowledge, WeSearch, questions and a demand for UC Berkeley in the last few weeks. A call for the end to hoarded wealth, stolen ancestors, and gentrifukation.

“As we talk about landless people’s movements, it is vital that we open these conversations to Poverty Skolaz,” said Lisa “Tiny” Gray-Garcia, co-founder of POOR Magazine and Homefulness. “Of the homeless people in Oakland, around 50% are Black, 30% are white, over 80% are disabled and many are elders -- all because of this lie called ‘crapitalism’ and this lie called ‘wealth.’” We see how akkkademia fuels crapitalism and wealth hoarding in the current actions of UC Berkeley. In People’s Park & at 1921 Walnut St., UC Berkeley -- which already owns 40% of land in Berkeley -- is trying to evict disabled elders and displace houseless people (including students) to build dorms that will only house students who can pay. UC Berkeley chooses to line its own pockets at the expense of residents of People’s Park & 1921 Walnut, and their own student body.

Stealing of indigenous land and displacing families and elders is reflected in struggles for liberation around the world. Huma Dar, a Kashmiri academic, activist & mama, notes that during a global pandemic, “Nomadic indigenous people and elders are being evicted from their homes in Kashmir.” As wealthy, Hindu, caste-privileged citizens purchase stolen Kashmiri land, we see a mirrored displacement of poor and indigenous peoples. And circling back to Turtle Island: “West of Temple University was 96% black in 2000, but after gentrification in 2010 was about 50% white and college-age residents were ⅔ of the population,” said Galen Tyler, an organizer in West Philly from Poor People’s Army.

At the Stolen Land/Hoarded Resources Tour at UC Berkeley on May 5th, youth skolaz from Deecolonize Academy taught us that almost every building on campus is named after a eugenicist. Akkkademic institutions may not have a problem with placing a racist colonizer’s name on a building, but people with akkkademic privilege -- like students, professors, lecturers and community members -- do. They used their collective power to partner with POOR Magazine for a Stolen Land Tour on their campus to learn about akkkademic reparations.

When I think about akkkademic reparations, I think about my mama. Growing up poor in India to parents who were farmers that migrated to the city, she was taught the colonial myth that akkkademia is what saves you, what gets you out of a bad place. I inherited this. If I knew one thing growing up, it was that I had to go to college in order to make it. My akkkademic access and class privilege brought me to college, all the way across the country, running from abuse and my family. In my pursuit of success, of making it on my own, of earning my own money and keeping myself afloat, I was never taught the true lie of these institutions. That they steal land and labor and people’s homes and the bones of indigenous ancestors in order to make “dreams come true.” The dream that was fed to me was never real...it was always an illusion. The illusion that hard work - instead of privilege - leads to success and money. That getting degrees makes me smarter or more worthy of some white dude’s respect. That respectability is above respect for land, elders and ancestors.

Shattering this lie and seeing akkkademia for what it truly is was my first step in akkkademic reparations and getting in right relationship with the land I’m on and the people whose land I'm on. POOR Magazine and PeopleSkool helped me get to a place where I could hold my family histories of power, privilege AND oppression with love and pain...knowing that the way forward is radically redistributing to follow the guidance of my poor ancestors.

It’s like Leroy Moore of Krip Hop Nation said: “Poor people have the answers, and we cannot go back (to before Covid). We have an extraordinary opportunity to radically change things moving forward.”

Killed for Being Black while Changing a Tire in Daly City - the PoLice Murder of Roger Allen

By Akil Carrilo and Ziair Hughes/Youth Poverty SKola Reporters for POOR Magazine

(Editor's Note: Akil and Ziair are students at Deecolonize Academy- the poor and indigenous people-led liberation school on the sacred land we houseless poverty skolaz call Homefulness)

“The poLice pulled my brother out of the car and left his two white friends alone,” said Talika, sister of Roger Allen at a prayer ceremony for Roger Allen and his family that POOR magazine youth and family elders re-ported and sup-ported on last week.

On April 7, 2021 Roger Allen was killed by Daly City Police for being Black while changing a tire. He was on the side of the road with a flat tire, a drug task force unit of the Daly City PD pulled up. Instead of helping him with the flat they began to harass him and were trying to search his car for drugs. Roger Allen was with two white friends, the cops only asked Roger Allen’s friends to step out of the car while he was asked to remain inside. One thing led to another and the cops shot and killed Roger Allen.

This happened April 7, about 3 months after I am writing his story. This is because there is absolutely no media coverage on his story. Roger Allen’s life is just one of the many Black and Brown lives lost due to police brutality, after they are killed everything is forgotten about and never learned. The only thing left are the tears of the family left behind.

George Floyd and Roger Allen are no different but why was George Floyd’s death on national tv, while Roger’s was not on any mainstream media outlet. This happens on a daily basis, so many people are killed by cops that no one knows about. This is a common occurrence, it's not a surprise anymore, just a constant struggle. Living each day with the fear that it might be the last.

“A human was killed for a flat tire, we know it's because of systemic white supremacy,” said Conamor Jas, one of the organizers of the beautiful ceremony at Garfield Park, close to where the family lives.

The cops used a division tactic with Roger Allen, then separated him from his friend leaving him alone and vulnerable. These tactics have been used for years, this is why Racism exists, to separate us and once we are separated we slowly get picked off.

“Daly City and South San Francisco are klan towns - it's dangerous to be a Black person there. Period. The Family of Shaleen Tindle were pulled out of their car in that area and seriously harassed in 2010, which is just one of many experiences we have reported and supported on of this sickkk place,” said Tiny Gray-Garcia, POOR Magazine Co-Editor.

All these corporations, laws, cops are all the same people, It's all the same hate and fear. They all see us as pests that need to be squashed. We are nothing to them. This is shown to us on a daily basis when poor, houseless, Black and Brown people get murdered, when we aren't allowed to build solutions for ourselves.

By Tiburcio Garcia with Kimo Umu, Ziair Hughes, Amir Cornish, Akil Carrillo and all the Poor and houseless mamaz and grandmommas who brought them into this journey

(Editor's Note: All the authors are students, themselves victims of gentrification and eviction and displacement and homelessness,  at the liberation school known as Deecolonize Academy. They “learn” through books, and study, action and liberation the tru Her-Story of this stolen land- they all collaborated with their teachers, also poverty, indigenous skolaz to create the attached “FactSheet.”)

“RAD has been around for decades, and now it’s being enforced”, Leroy Moore, founder of Krip Hop  co-founder of Homefulness and writer for POORMAGAZINE said with frustration written on his face, squinting in the morning sun. It was a clear day, on the morning on April 20th, the day that POOR Magazine and all of us youth and family “poverty skolaz” at Deecolonize Academy & Homefulness demonstrated in front of City Hall to protest RAD and Hope VI, two bills that have been used by devil-opers (like my mamá Tiny calls them)  such as Mercy Housing, John Stewart Company and many more in the Bay Area recently to evict large amounts of families to make room for higher paying tenants. “Repeal it Biden.”

“We’re here because we’ve been receiving Letters of Eviction, and they are offering nowhere to go, they are just taking our homes away”, Teresa Molina, a tenant and a resident of San Francisco who is currently fighting RAD and HOPE VI, said, talking about her fellow tenants in her apartments. The Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), is a bill put in place by the Department of Public Housing that allows big housing companies to privatize their previously public housing, making it easier for them to remove the tenants who relied on Section 8 to pay their rent.

“I was born and raised in Filmo’”, Mama Queenandi XSheba, povertySkola, public housing tenant and writer with POORMAGAZINE said when she got up on the mic, gesturing rapidly. “...cuz even when me and my children’s lives were in danger,  the quote un-quote housing authority still didn’t look at us and that out Black Lives Mattered," she finished.

“Non-profiteers CONtinue to profit off of our poverty and problems while helping to create our problems,” my Mama Tiny, known as “PovertySkola”, a poet, teacher, visionary and co-founder of POORMAGAZINE, Homefulness and Deecolonize Academy where we are all students. She went onto explain that RAD and No Hope VI was launched under Obama and “housing advocacy” non-profits in San Francisco were some the authors of the RAD program which has effectively killed all the public housing across the “United Snakes” as she and other revolutionaries call it .”We are demanding equity and reparations for Black and Brown and indigenous Houseless residents of these no-longer public housing buildings so we can build our own solutions like we are with  Homefulness,” she said and then concluded, “E-RADification to Reparations.”

Tiny and Queennandi XsheBa at POOR Magazine wrote extensively about RAD in 2013 when they snuck it through. No-one but the BayView Newspaper and POOR MAgazine published these stories (links below) but they were powerful “Wesearch” as Mama Tiny calls it - (poor people-led Research) on these evil moves for our youth and family created “FactSHEET” on RAD that we did in Mama Tiny’s Deecolonize English Class (see attachment).

I had to agree withQueennandi and my Mama, and I felt for everyone at the mercy of RAD and HOPE VI, it’s predecessor, nearly being evicted and put on the streets, because me and my mother have been in that situation before. This was a powerful action, and I loved the words that were being spoken, that often go unheard, and the point they made.

“If we fight back we can resist this removal, like we have done in Westside,”  said Uncle Greg, a powerful organizer and member of this movement of POORMAGAZINE to help launch a tenants union amd resist the politricks( as my mama calls it ) of RAD. “you all inspire me, we have power," he concluded.

“We are poor people who resist with our voices,” said Mama Junebug, teacher, poet and povertySkola describing the powerful principles of POORMAGAZINE. “We can speak for ourselves and solve our own problems!”

Support Not Sweeps and Free Homefulness

By Tiburcio Garcia and Amir Cornish/Youth poverty Skola reporters for POOR Magazine (Editor's Note: Akil and Ziair are students at Deecolonize Academy- the poor and indigenous people -led liberation school on the sacred land we houseless poverty skolaz call Homefulness)

The metallic crunching fills the air, the screeching sound of metal destroying metal pierces the skin harder than the whipping ocean breeze. Homes, belongings, memoires, being crushed like tin cans by the city of Marin County, the people that resided in them for generations being shuffled around while forced to watch everything they knew be destroyed. Preventing this from happening on a larger scale, preventing this from happening to thousands of other houseless and poor people was the reason behind Tuesdays #SupportNotSweeps action in front of CalTrans.

“People living on their boats for hundreds of years are now in jeopardy as much as people living under freeways,” a houseless sailor yells, looking back at the corporate building that stands as a monument of terror. “The Harbormaster is smashing boats, the City Council and the Counsellors are agreeing to it and there's tons of money being made on the backs of the people. This man, along with many others who came out to speak out on their situations of being harassed by entities just like CalTrans, who don’t care if human lives are being put at risk because of their actions as long as they make profit.

We youth and family poverty skolaz at POOR Magazine re-ported and sup-ported on the Support Not Sweeps action through theatre and presence. The theatre acted out the very real violence so many of us at POOR Magazine have dealt with and still deal with - people being forcibly removed in the form of a Theater of the POOR, where some of us acted out a very familiar scene, houseless people in tents being harassed by cops and DPW officers, the DPW officers chanting louder and louder over the desperate cries of the people, “WE ARE JUST DOING OUR JOBS! WE ARE JUST DOING OUR JOBS!'' I hope that no matter how many times they say that they won't be able to sleep at night.

When I was younger, me and my mother were houseless, evicted over and over again in the city of San Francisco. I was never on the streets, but we always knew from our friends and family the violence of the sweeps that happened then and continue to happen nearly a decade later. Then, Homefulness was born out of a dream from my grandmother's head, from years of teaching people with race and class privilege to give reparations. Now, we are being tied up by the City of Oakland, the same that sweeps so many houseless people, unable to complete a project that will take us and our families out of houselessness. We all went to Oakland City hall to demand Free Homefulness right after the Support Not Sweeps sit in at Caltrans

The struggle unhoused people are dealing with now is nothing new - what my mama Tiny calls, the Violence called Sweeps, or the Violence of exposure, swept like we as houseless people are trash.. But it is getting worse. From Liveaboard and poor boat residents to people sleeping in tents, people are constantly being “swept” and thrown away and demolished and displaced.  The sweeps and destruction is increasing in the so-called “opening back up” cities all across this state are increasing evictions of houseless peoples from their tents and lands when they have nowhere to go.

This #SupportNotSweeps action, near downtown Oakland, filled up nearly the entire block with houseless and poor people exclaiming their human rights and demanding justice. Boats being destroyed in front of their now houseless owners eyes, lifelong belongings being thrown in a dump truck by glass eyed workers, day and day it happens and it never stops. As long as there is money to be made this government will colonize and pillage and destroy to get it.

Stand with Liveaboard Mariners as they fight an eviction of their whole encampment where they have been forced to live after their boats were crushed in front of their eyes by the wealth-hoarder poltricksters of so-called Sausalito  Marin County - aka Occupied Miwok Territory on Tuesday, June 28th 7am-7pm, 300 Locust Street Sausalito, Cal

Emotions don't let them get the best of you that's the Golden Rule I think it's A Catch 22 a f*****-up double-edged sword you're damned if you show emotions yet if one is emotionless you hit them with Your Best Shot firing away what is one to do what am I to do hell this is an answer that has not been answered that's the flaw in the twist of emotions and this is not a poem my thoughts just kind of flow out of me like this emotions they are feelings that can be turned into action once this energy has been tapped into or and shifted are they to be contained or are they to be released????? Character there's a fine thin line between the two emotions and character. What's the difference between those two...... The trade-off is in the truth.... or is it IN how one is viewed...... My Character is Genuine And Pure-Natured i Pride Myself On My Being Honest Which Has to do With TRUTH... CHARACTER and Truth Thin Line Between Those 2.....

I am emotional the outward Outburst I display that appears to be negative energy is not to be put on my being's character it is my truth And YOURS TOO...this is an outrageous traumatizing situation

Traumatizing health hazardous and downright dangerous my emotions and my character and the truth of the deal is you got me f***** up it appears to be one way and it really is another it's an illusion due to the trans4mation of the transition in the tone of my voice and my body language which my spirit and soul do a little dance exuding a powerful energy out into the air changing the atmosphere Shifting the power captivating the authority to just be I don't need your permission your outlook and view of things are warped

Life is unpredictable. I try to control what I can.

Some say I shouldn't, I should Just Go with the Flow And Be Accepting Of What Life Has In Store.

I'm Learning Life Is About How One Moves Through Every Encounter, Good and Bad... I Certainly have Had My Challenges and Am Currently having Some Difficulties With Maintaining My Emotions, Concerning All of Life's Recent Curveballs…

For Instance, Since the Coronavirus has hit, It Seems Masks, Gloves, And Disinfectants is Our New Way of Living.

“Gimme 6 Feet” Is the New Hashtag and World Order. The Law Has Been Implemented and All must Conform To it...

It Seems To me this Virus is Unpredictable and aims to Kill and Destroy...

Some Have Survived, Many Were Sentenced to Death by this Newest Pandemic...

We Must Carry On... The World is Still Very much in A Panic...

And The World Is Still Spinning, Although the Government is Doing Their Very Best to Dictate Everyone's Movement's... Meanwhile, Tension is Up. The Economy has taken a Bad Hit, Affecting us all...

One Minute, The Restaurants Are Open. Then they Close them Down, due to the Spikes Of Coronavirus/Covid-19. It's Like We’re the Yo-yos, The State Is The String, And the Government is the Human Guiding the String and Yo-yo...

    Get it...?

Mama Cheryl Canson’s story is one of resistance. She spoke on Po' People's Revolutionary Newz Hour: Keeping the "A's" even if Poor Peoples Cant Stay on April 13, 2021 (listen here) about her experience at Canyon Rim Apartments in San Diego.

“While we’re fighting a pandemic we’re fighting amongst each other, and that’s really a saddening thing and we don't realize the solution to a lot of our issues is unity” - Mama Cheryl

Mama Cheryl has been living at Canyon Rim for the past 2 years. When she first moved in she got a lot of glares and stares, and there was a lot of racism and prejudice. She is Black and the neighborhood had few people who looked like her, and ever since moving in she’s been getting harassed. The goal of this has been to get her uncomfortable enough to move.

Some of her neighbors have used glares and mean mugs to show their displeasure of her moving there and becoming their neighbor, but Mama Cheryl is going to stand because she is not ashamed in her Blackness. She was thinking about moving, but then she got connected with the San Diego Tenants Union. They have stood with her united, and let her know that she’s not alone, fighting side by side with her.

Mama Cheryl has a history of mental illness in her family, which sometimes leads to loud moments and that’s just something she deals with. Sometimes she’s told neighbors in the past about this but it’s a catch 22 - do you let your neighbors know about your situation or do you not for fear of targeting. None of these things can change, not her race nor her mental illness, and Mama Cheryl is not going to fight against that.

“I am what I am ... I’m sure you’re proud of who you are but I’m not bothering you, Ima let you be who you are and be proud of who you are, you know, but allow me to do the same” - Mama Cheryl

There was an initial complaint made against Mama Cheryl, and legal aid was initially representing her, but it was the San Diego Tenants Union who was able to find mistakes in the original complaint. Shout out to the tenants union in San Diego!! People united can conquer anything.

Since this complaint wasn’t answered in time, it was rendered invalid. It’s still unclear to Mama Cheryl the exact details of the process she is in, but she knows she is waiting for a court hearing. She got together with the tenants union and knocked on doors, together they were able to empower others by being united, showing her fellow neighbors that if they should experience or were experiencing any of the things she was, that they were not alone.

In the pandemic, there are laws preventing landlords/scamlords from using lack of payment to evict people, so these scamlords look for other reasons to evict people. Mama Cheryl was paying her rent electronically, but they blocked her access and wouldn’t accept her rent, so they clearly wanted her to move for other reasons. When that initial complaint was filed, the poLICE came to her door to “investigate”, and it was clear that the noise and arguing that was complained about didn’t exist. The only explanation for how this has gotten so full blown is that the office has been discriminating as well. Especially because in a building of 197 tenants or so, where she was open from the start about her mental illness history, they could have placed her in a more accommodating space around more tolerating neighbors, but they chose not to listen to her.

Mama Cheryl is in good hands in her resistance, and in her unity with the people through the tenants union.

The days are flying by. Soon it will be October 20th, 2020, and it will be my deceased son Torian Dajour Hughes’ Heavenly Birthday. He would have been 22 years of age, my favorite number -- or shall I say, one of my favorite numbers in the whole wide world. When I was younger, I used to put my age up, and it just kind of fit.

I've Always Been Wise Beyond my Years.

There's a family story that Explains How it's all Connected…

When I was 2 years of age, my mother asked me how old I was and I responded, “I'm 22 years of age and I've been here before.” This SCARED her, and she kind of left me alone for the rest of the day. She was sure to feed me and bathe me, she put me to bed when the night hit, but as far as any other interactions, let's just say she didn't want to ask me any more questions and hoped to put the day behind her...in fear of What the Blue Eyed Black Hair 4 Teeth Talking Black Toddler Might Say... I Already Was Different In Every Aspect. Nothing like my Older Siblings. She Was SHOCKED the lil Gurl She Birthed From Her African Brown Heavily melanated Body Made That Statement... Mother Got lost in my Eyes and Let Me be...

    Laugh Out loud...

To this day, it's one of our favorite funny family Stories We Share, and this is why 22 is so significant to me and my family.

Even some of my closest friends know the story and have lived to Bear Witness as I grew up, repeating the age 22 multiple times in my Journey’s Walk of Life...

Moving Forward, I NOW am a Mom and I have 3 sons: Amir and Ziair, Torian Is Now Gone...he's  a great Ancestor

I miss my son. I imagined what life would be like if he was alive, living to reach the age 22. I used to think of the form of his mustache Would Take...

I also thought about his body Mass Build. I wondered the type of young lady selection he'd bring home to me,  making Her his Future Wife.

I envisioned his style of dress, maintaining character in Corporate America, Working Against the 9 to 5.

I hoped to See His Offspring, My Seed, Direct Blood line Never to Manifest Robbed x4...

I Prayed That Before his Spirit Leave His Body, his Soul is Clean And Acceptable To Be Eternally On the Right Hand of God.

I Pray the SAME Prayer For All my Children ....

I Gave My Word To God While My 1st born was in my Tummy, I Give back My 1st living Sacrifice...

I Swore I Would Do my VERY BEST JOB

To Serve and Protect As Best i can...

I Yearn To Know Who My Son Would Be.
