Original Body
(Author's note: Cats come in all sizes and colors. Some, as we know, are great actors/actresses. This poem is about a cat i came across recently, whose acting skills were proficient enough to garner her a prominent space on Hollywood's B-List. Enjoy)
A cat landed at
my door the
other day
my door the
other day
It made much
noise
showing teeth
paw and
claw
what kind of cat
are you, i asked
I'm a baaaad
cat, she hissed
showing much teeth
Arching her back, twisting
her cat body in contortions
and distortions in a riddle
of spotted fur
and then she showed
her teeth again,
whiskers rising
I'm an actress,
she said, tail
whipping around
is that right,
i asked
Yes, kind of a
starving cat actress
at the moment
Do you have any
food? she asked
I went inside
and got her a dish
of milk
she stopped
hissing, showing
teeth, claw and paw
and she lapped
up that milk
playing the
part, whipping
that tail around on
cue
